FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
What types of therapy do you offer?
I specialize in trauma-informed approaches including Attachment-focused EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic therapy, CBT, and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples. I also integrate mindfulness-based techniques to help with anxiety, depression, and stress management.
Do you offer online therapy or only in-person sessions?
I offer both in-person therapy at my Montclair, NJ office and secure online sessions for clients throughout New Jersey, New York, and most states in the US. Online therapy is a great option if you have scheduling constraints, prefer the comfort of your home, or live outside the Montclair area.
What issues do you specialize in treating?
I work with clients experiencing:
Anxiety and panic attacks
Depression
Relationship challenges
Trauma and PTSD
Infertility and pregnancy loss
Postpartum depression and anxiety
Life transitions and identity exploration
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance. I’m an out-of-network provider and can provide superbills for reimbursement with out-of-network benefits.
How long are therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions are typically 45 minutes. Sometimes 60 minutes are a better fit so that is also an option that we would figure out together. The frequency of sessions depends on your needs—most clients start with weekly sessions and may adjust to biweekly as progress is made.
What should I expect in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity to share what brings you to therapy and ask questions about my approach. We'll discuss your goals, relevant history, and determine if we're a good fit. There's no pressure to commit after the first session—finding the right therapist is important.
What is Attachment-focused EMDR therapy and who is it good for?
Attachment-focused EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a specialized treatment particularly effective for complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and phobias. It helps your brain reprocess difficult memories so they're less emotionally overwhelming. Many clients find relief faster with Attachment-focused EMDR than traditional talk therapy alone.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes, I offer a free 15-minute phone or video consultation to discuss your needs and answer any questions about therapy. This helps us both determine if my approach is a good match for what you're looking for.
Are you accepting new clients?
I have limited availability but am accepting clients depending on day/time they need to be seen. I also maintain a waitlist.
Do you offer EMDR therapy in Montclair?
Yes, I provide an EMDR innovation called Attachment-focused EMDR therapy both in-person at my Montclair office and online for clients throughout New Jersey, New York, and most states in the US. Attachment-Focused EMDR is particularly effective for processing trauma, reducing anxiety, and addressing phobias.
What is somatic therapy?
Somatic therapy focuses on the connection between mind and body. I use somatic approaches to help clients notice and release physical tension related to trauma, anxiety, and stress. This can be especially helpful if you feel emotions in your body or struggle with chronic tension.
How do I know if we're a good fit?
I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we can discuss what brings you to therapy and whether my approach matches your needs. Good therapy requires the right fit—you should feel comfortable being honest and asking questions.
What is IFS therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an approach that helps you understand different "parts" of yourself—like the part that pushes you to work harder versus the part that wants rest. By exploring these parts with curiosity rather than judgment, many clients find relief from inner conflict and develop more self-compassion.
What types of trauma do you work with?
I work with clients who have experienced:
Childhood trauma or neglect
PTSD from single or ongoing traumatic events
Complex trauma from long-term difficult relationships
Medical trauma, including birth trauma
Grief and loss
Relationship betrayal or infidelity
Major life transitions that feel destabilizing
You don't need a formal diagnosis to benefit from trauma-informed therapy.
